I just have 9 servers with openmail dropped in my lap last month. There are now legal issue with the client and I have to sort through a years worth of info to get messages to the attorneys. Archiving is turned on and I can do it with uudecode and tftbrowse. Anyone know of a faster way of doing this? Right now it looks like this may take the next few months of solid work!

Thanks,

Ed,

It's been a while (years) since I looked after OM servers and, whilst I've never had to do exactly what you have to, I would have a look in the OM bin and unsupp or contrib directory, there are some utilities in there you may find useful.

Thanks Mike! I'll definatly take a look again. I'm not sure if I searched the unsupp dir.

What we are doing now is going through the Archive Server's Messages and stripping out the uuencoded message, searching for a list of words/names the attorney's provided- if one is found grab the text of the message and the attachments. We don't know what kind or the name of the attachment until we open it in a hex editor and search around for common company names (microsoft, adobe, etc.). It's painful and tedious at best. Especially when you are talking about a terabyte of data to go through.

Thanks,
Ed
