Opening Word 2000 crashes

Whenever I open Word 2000 it crashes immediately. The SP2 from Office 2000 has been installed and it did not solve the issue. I am using Windows XP. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this ?
Uninstalling and installing Office 2000 SR-1 did not solve the problem.

Hi Chris, what I would suggest is you go to start then run. In the popup box type in word.exe /a
This will reset word and open it with default settings. Give this a try. If this work and the problem comes back when you open word via the Icon. Try deleteing Normal.dot while word is closed. Then open word again. If this isn't doesn't help then you may need to uninstall add-ins. Let us know if it doesn't help.
