i have QuarkXpress file which i tried to open in InDesign (V 4.0.1) and it came up with the message: "Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format maybe missing, or the file maybe open in another application". What that suppose to mean? I am about 99.9% sure that document in question wasn't created in the very latest version of Quark (nothing beyond version 4) which means something missing in InDesign - can anybody please suggest what to do?

Thanks!

cheers,
Yelena

I would say it's always that 1% that will get you, it's Murphy's Law.

That message means it was created in a version greater then Quark V4.11

If you have access to Quark 5, open it in that and back save it to V4.

If this is truly a QuarkXPress 4 document, consider opening it in QuarkXPress 4 with XTs disabled. Then resave.
