Opening Procomm gives Windows Telephony Warnings

After switching modems I'm getting multiple instances (17!) of "This telephony device has been removed. Please Exit the program and restart" inside a message box labeled "Windows Telephony Warning". After I click OK things seem to continue as normal for awhile, e.g., Procomm comes up. Then when I try to dial out, the modem (USR 56k faxmodem) dials and handshakes, then I get the same message one more time. I click OK, and the call continues.

I've tried removing the modem from Windows and re-adding it, with the same results.

Any ideas on how to get rid of the messages?

Try renaming PW4.PRM or PW5.PRM in the main Procomm directory. This parameter file can sometimes get corrupted and cause odd problems like the error message you mentioned.

Thanks for the PW5.PRM suggestion, but it didn't resolve the problem. I finally removed all modems from both Procomm and Windows 2000, then rebooted/reinstalled the modem. That seemed to do the trick--at least for now.

I appreciate your efforts, Knob

If it happens again, you might want to do a search of the Procomm knowledge base on the Symantec site. I'm fairly certain I've seen that problem once or twice on their forum and they have a method to resolve that issue.
