Is there a standard procedure on opening ports through a cisco router? I am installing some bank software that says to open TCP 1724 (I think) and TCP Protocol 47...any info would be great.

I do have the console port going to com a on a pc already and can communicate with the router...

Thanks in advance

CyberNatus;

Check out Extended Access lists, which allow protocol filtering.

access-list <access list number> {permit | deny} <protocol><source IP address><source wildcard mask><destination IP address><destination wildcard mask>[/i] [protocol specific parameters].

Cisco has impressive documentation online.

Best,
Mike

If you can post your config I can tell you how to configure your extended access lists to unblock the 2 ports (in case they are blocked).
