hey all !

we are running a peer to peer network, and xp operating systems.

we are having problems opening pdf's over the network, it gives the error message "there was an error opening this document. access denied"

we shared the directory, left it in "my docs" and that is when we get the error. then we dropped it into the "shared docs" folder and are able to access the file over the network. we then drop it back to "my docs", share it and am able to access it. you would think that whatever attributes it acquired while in "shared docs" was kept after i moved it back to "my docs" but then i made another file in that same shared directory in "my docs" and try to access it over the network and i get the error....so.....i do the same thing, i send it to "shared docs" and am able to access it.

so then.....i drop the directory back into "shared docs", make a new word file, am able to access the word file, then i pdf it and can not access over the network while it is in "shared docs", so then that blows my attribute theory.

i know this is confusing....imagine how i feel !!!!!!!

does anyone have any idea of what is happening or maybe you can direct me to the right place for support???????

I'm sorry, you lost me after 'hey all!'

Adobe support? Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

I'm wondering about the account under which Acrobat is running, when you use it to create the PDFs. If the Acrobat program was installed while logged on as a particular user, then maybe PDFs are assigned to that user.

I know it's a long shot, but perhaps uninstalling Acrobat and re-installing as Administrator might help you out.
