First, do you have a lot of icons/folders/other stuff on your desktop? If so, mine took a little while to open but seemed to fix it when I cleaned up my desktop. (when you click the pull down menu it will show you everything from the desktop. At least mine does) Also, is your default file location on a network drive? If it is, try changing it to a folder on your local drive. Do this by going to Tools/Options and clicking on the General tab.
