When I go into WORD the computer shuts down with this error message:
WIN32K.SYS (with additional tech no.’s [which I’ve written down])

What could be causing this and how can I resolve the issue?

Your an IS Manager and you don't know how to fix that? hhhmm..

Its Microsoft, reinstall it, then download thier 'oops we forgot something, but this will fix it' service packs.. :) "tis better to be thought of as a fool then open your mouth and remove all doubt" Mark Twain

Prior to using snootalope's fix, try logging on as someone else. If it Word works, then it's a profile issue and you will have to create a new one and rename current- must have admin rights. If it still craps out, then try snootalope's typical M$ fix...
