Opening files over Windows network

I just installed the latest OO 1.10 on my two primary PCs - both PIII, one desktop and one laptop, both running Win2K.

These two machines are networked with a third Win98SE machine via a Linksys router. One of them is by wireless, the other by ethernet cable.

OO on the Win2K machines are unable to open files on the Win98 machine. I can navigate and select the file (either OO or MS docs), but they do not open.

Trying to save to the Win98 machine causes an error:

Error saving document xxxx.xxx
Wrong parameter
The operation was started under an invalid parameter.

Installation on the two Win2k machines was via -net install, then workstation install as directed. Other than this they work fine an I like the programs very much.

Only OpenOffice exhibits this behavior - allother apps open and save fine.

Thanks
Barry

I'd love to solve this one.

Can you save it under another format? (ie, MS word, RTF or the default OO).

OO running on either of my Win2K machines cannot save or open any document to or from the Win98 machine on the network. All other programs access the Win98 machine with no problems.

Unfortunately the only stuff I found regarding your problem was in Linux mailing lists.

One suggestion was to re-install OO with a workstation installation.

The other suggestion was to force the file extension when trying to write to the Win 98 computer. But since you can even open those files it seems that the re-install would be the best option.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

You might also want to try as this might be a bug you can help track down...
