Hi

I am having problems opening attached files on recieved mail in Outlook 2002.

I have added the Level1Remove string value to the registry in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive and set it to accept the types of files that I want to accept as attachments. This
allows me to receive the file attachments that I want but I can't open them - I can only save them to disk. This is a pain.

Is there any way that I can open the file attachments directly from within the E mail?

Jules,

There is a useful page at which has various ways of getting round attachment security. I've not actually tried the method that you have mentioned, but I did download the program under the Attachment Options link on the Slipstick page. The link should take you to which will provide you with a utility that adds a new tab to your Outlook options so that you can specify the types of files that you can open.

Hope this helps.

Hi Richard

Thanks for your comments. I have gone to the URL. It seems to recommend what I have already done to allow attachments. Basically I have specified all of the attachment file types in the Level1Remove key. This works fine but I cannot open any files that are attached to E mails I can only save them to disk.

Maybe it is the case that once a file is allowed with the Level1Remove key the only option is to save it. Which is a pain. I was hoping that there was some registry key that could be set to overcome this annoying feature.

The utility I mentioned allows me to open any attachments directly from my e-mail. If you don't have to touch the registry, why bother?
