Opening Excel files with long names.

I have a strange problem when opening Excel files. They do open but where the file name have spaces eg. "the file one.xls" it tries to open files made up of each word.

Eg. It will try to open "the.xls" then "file.xls" then "one.xls". Since these files do not exist, I get 3 error messages then it will open the actual file "the file one.xls".

This problem suddenly started today.

We use TSE4.0 sp6a, MT1.8 sp3 fr2. Office 97 pro sp2.

The problem does not appear to happen on other applications.

Try recreating the user profiles, we recently had the same problem after upgrading from Office 97.......
