Hi,
We have a problem with Windows 2000 Professional workstations. We have several Excel spreadsheets with a large number of links in them. If you open them on a Windows 2000 Professional workstation, the machine appears to lock up. It will eventually come back to life, but it literally takes 4-5 minutes to open the document.
On a Windows 98 machine, the document opens immediately.
The spreadsheets we're using are a series of documents that are created monthly. Each spreadsheet links back to the previous month, so there are literally hundreds - possibly thousands - of links going back several years.
One theory is that Windows 2000 Pro is being more thorough about checking these links than Excel, and is going back through every single document, whereas 98 only checks back to the last document. But that doesn't help me solve the problem!
Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone seen a similar problem?
