I have a sight impairment.

I get various documents that always seem to open with the review comments in display - which I then have to turn off.

Can I change a setting so that I get a 'plain vanilla' view with no special notations - and can I automate fit to width to maximize the view.

thanks.

Word opens documetns in the View that they were using when saved.

The simplest solution is to add the ViewPageWidth command to a Toolbar. That will atleast give you a one click solution rather than having to faff around with the Zoom options each time.

Right-click on any Toolbar and select Customise.
Choose View and scroll down the list of commands until you find the Page Width button.
Drag it up onto a Toolbar.
Make sure to say Yes to the Save changes to global template when you close Word.
