Hello, and Happy New Year.

I created an agent in a database that copies selected documents into an archive database. The archive database started out as 12 MBs. The maximum size of the database is 1 GB. Periodically during this process I would
refresh the archive database. Hours into this, when I went to refresh, I got an error message saying "B-tree structure is invalid". I had to close the database. Now, when I try to open it all I get is the same error message. The database won't open! The database has grown to 958 MBs. I searched some Notes sites and forums to see if I could find out what this B-tree error message was all about. Some people said just close Notes and Domino, restart, and the error would be gone. That hasn't worked. Other people suggested that perhaps the database was too large. Seeing as it is fast approaching 1 GB, I searched for how to
increase the size of the database. I found some info, and this is what I did:

In Domino Administrator I highlighted the file/database that I want to resize, and chose "Compact". In the dialog box that opened up, I chose Set Maximum Size of Database to 4 GB. I got a message that this was successfully processed, but the maximum size has remained unchanged (1 GB). It's file format is R4(20.0). Shouldn't this have worked? I tried using the Load Compact -M command from the console - that didn't work either. I really need to get into this database!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

I'm not sure about R4 but in R5 and R6 go into the administrator to the file you want to increase and select Quotas. Then when that box opens highlight the file and enter the size you want.

Thanks - I forgot to mention that I'm using R5.08. The maximum size and quota seem to be 2 different things. When I highlight the file and click on Quotas from the Database drop-down list on the right, and from there click on "More Info" it says that the Absolute Maximum Size is 1 GB. I can set the quota to 2 GB, but the maximum size stays at 1 GB. I still can't open the database - I'm still getting the b-tree error. I tried to run updall -R on the database, but I keep getting a message that the file does not exist. I'm gonna start screaming soon! :-(
