Opening attachements in Outlook 2003

We recently upgraded a computer to Outlook 2003. Now the user cannot "double-click" open an attachment (in this case it's an Excel file) - either from the preview pane or the opened email. I can't find very many posts related O2K3.

For what it's worth ( and probably not mush ), I use Outlook 2003 and don't have this problem. What is the error message? Is it possible that the file associations are broken? Check Start / Settings / Control Panel / Folder Options / File Types
