Opening an external App from Micros 3700

I am going to develop a software that needs to be installed in a Micros Workstation 5A running 3700 software version, is it possible to assign a new key in 3700 software by clicking this key can it open and external software installed in the Workstation?

You can link a key to an external program and pass parameters to it....if that is what you are asking The link needs to be made in Micros POSCONFIG though.
