Opening a Word document with Outlook 2K VBA

Can a Word 2000 doc be opened within Outlook 2000 VBA for the purpose of merging in SQL data to bookmarks?

I can achieve this within Word VBA but it seems to be more difficult do within Outlook VBA. I know Word can call Outlook, but can Outlook use Word to any good effect.

Can someone help me out on this?

If you add a reference to the Word 9.0 Object Library, you should be able to access most of Word's functionality...
