I have recently designed a stock control system in Access 2k. The actual system is running fine but my boss has said that it needs to open the till and also trigger a electronic stand alone timer.

I have heard people talking about getting the computer to open a till but I haven't got a clue how to start the timer running!

Any help what so ever will be great ESPCIALLY on the timer one.

Normally opening a cash drawer is just sending some data down a serial port. Is the goal here to keep track in the program of how long the cash drawer stays open? If so, you are probably out of luck, as the cash drawers I worked with a few years ago didn't have any sort of feedback. They just accepted data on the serial port to trigger them to open.

I would just like to open the draw it doesn't really matter how long it stays open.

Could you please supply the code to just open the till draw.

Cheers Wilson.

I wrote the code to open a drawer on COM1 or COM2, but it is an EXE file.

I first tried it with VBA/API calls, but it was extremely complicated and did not work always.
