On suse linux 10.0 I open a document which has a link to a web site. Clicking on that link gives me the message:

There was an error launching the default action command associated with this location

We have opened this text doc. by using cat <document name>
from a terminal window on the linux box. Going to where the link is located in the document. You right click on it then pick "Open Link" this is when you receive the message above.

Does anyone have a clue??

Thanks

your desktop manager has an association that when you click on the application it tries to launch something.

Think of the windows world and you click on a .pdf file. Acrobat will automatically open because of the file association.

Clicking on the link in the document is trying to open a web browser i assume and there is an error trying to open the web browser.

You can look somewhere in your preferences and see what the default web broweser is configured as? Also, what are you using the view the document, Open Office?

We are only opening a gnome terminal then catting the file
and then clicking on the link provided
