NVidia drivers are causing me great pain and I hate that stinking company for it's awful driver support, but also have four of their rubbish cards so there is no option but to get them working.
1. Latest Forceware drivers cause BSOD in D3D and OpenGL.
2. Recommended drivers on guru3D.com cause BSOD when booting.
3. Omega tweaked drivers work for D3D, but give BSOD in OpenGL.
4. Original CD drivers work for OpenGL, but give BSOD in D3D.
Cards give good performance when working, but as you can see from the above, getting them to work is no simple task.
I require the use of both D3D and OpenGL. Currently forced back into using antiquated S3 Savage4, 3dfx Banshee, 3dfx Voodoo3, S3 ViRGE *yuk* cards! These all work 100% but are a little too old and I need the NVidia junk working.
Cards affected: AOpen GF4MX440, WinFast GF3, Creative GF2MX, Asus GF4MX440.
The evidence clearly points to a motherboard vs. graphics compatibility issue, but I updated to the latest ALi AGP drivers so nothing else I can do asside from mess with NVidia drivers.
It would take fair effort to extract the files seperately because the automated installer doesn't accomodate mixing and matching files from different driver releases. Never the less, that would appear to be the only hope of getting both D3D and OpenGL working
However, before I try that, I would like a reference to the various registry settings as these may also have changed between driver releases. Can anyone help me with that?
What a pain
Thanks for reading.
