open_basedir restriction in effect

Hi

i am trying to copy file from hd to server.
while copying i am getting a following error:

Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory

i contacted admin about that , he says its a security issue.
i dont want to use system commmand for this.
wht is the solution for that ?

There is a security issue with uploading files and also a fix, if he says its a security issue he means he's too damn lazy to patch it.

I believe its possible to use anonymous ftp functions within PHP so you could check that as exec() is well hazardous in the open. ______________________________________________________________________

thanks for the reply.
yes,the admin says that its there "policy" not to permit the upload and so i cannot use copy function of php.
he advices me to use unix cp function which i dont want to use really.

anyway have any idea how to fix the security problem ?
