open unknown document/file type from Access VBA 1

Hi, Does anyone have any useful code snippets that allows an unknown document type to be opended automatically from VBA?

I have setup an Access help database that allows the path to a supporting document to be entered. The document can be a text, word, excel or pdf document etc. I want the user to be able to click the command button and for VBA to figure out the document type and open the document with the required program.
