is most compatable with Outlook and can import contacts, messages, etc from Outlook?

TIA

Does it need to run on Windows? And will it need to connect to Exchange Server?

Evolution has similar features, but only runs on Linux and still has some issues with integration into an existing Exchange environment.

i am running XP machines on a home network; smtp & pop.

looking @ Pegasus & Eudora (Penelope) but, need to be able to get everything from Outlook into one of them.

You will probably need to export your data from Outlook before the others can import it.

The answer is "42"

scratch Eudora; you can only set up one outgoing server - i need at least 4!

had Pegasus already downloaded and it will allow multiple SMTP profiles.

have set it up and tested the settings - so far so good. the next step is to see if i can select the profiles to show the account/identity that i want to send from. right now it is using just one identifier.

will try Thunderbird if this doesn't work out.

p.s. during set up it asks if you want to import from another email program but, i don't have my Outlook data files loaded on this machine yet so i will have to try it later to see if i can import everything from Outlook.

so i have now tried Pegasus; close but no cigar.

Thunderbird is my next try.

smah,

now running Thunderbird. like what i see. will update on my experience with it.

thanks for the lead

Thunderbird installed, setup, tweaked, and added the calendar.

like the looks and feel of it as compared to Outlook.

now will have to run it awhile to check the stability and user friendliness.

p.s. still have my Outlook as a fall back & am leaving message onn my server just in case.

have been running Thunderbird since my last post; added Lightning for the calendar and some other Add-ons.

i must say that it is stable, user friendly and handles the multiple servers/profiles like a charm.

i now have separate folders that receive emails from the separate email accounts and can swith profiles for sending with the click of the dropdown and can drag/drop emails from one profile to the other without any problems.

thanks to all for their suggestions.

p.s. Star for you smah
