I am volunteering my skills to build a POS system for a family owned business. They cannot afford yearly license for all applications, so I am trying to minimize cost by using open source alternatives. I haven't had any luck trying to find an alternative to BEA Tuxedo for linux. I only need 3 to 5 connections for distributed transaction processing from Windows XP client to Redhat 9.0 linux server. VB/C++ on client side and C++ on server side. Does anyone have any suggestions.
