My MDaemon server is currently listed as an open relay.

I have a couple of accounts hosted on the server. These are pop boxes and are password protected.

However our server can still be used to send spam as an open relay!

I have temporarily resolved this issue by forcing the server to deny access if the pop account hasn't been accessed within 5 minutes of the request, however this is not ideal.

Why does a password protected account still send email from an un-authenticated server?

How do you know you server can be used for relaying mail?

I am just wondering because I tried Alt-n some time ago to see if it was good for what I needed it for.

But when I ran the tests it came up as "No Relay Possible"

So now I am wondering if you do it from inside the network?

Thnx

Pim
