while running win 2k pro, when an application prompts me to "open" a file in windows, is there a way to set the default view of that box to thumbnails, rather than changing the view each time? i've combed the folder options in the control panel. even tried setting a group policy. no luck. any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you want all your explorer windows to have the same view i.e. thumbnails, details, etc. you can open an explorer window, set it how you want it, then go to tools, folder options, view and click "like current view". This will remember your favorite view for all future explorer windows.

Hope this helps...

yes, i'm aware of that option. i'm talking about when an application prompts me to open a file. not win. explorer.
