Hi everyone,

I have began last week to use Cognos PowerPlay. Its really a great Tool and much better as SQL Analysis Services. I used that before Cognos. I have a Problem. I have become 4 Cubes from my Boss (.mdl files), but I cant open the Cubes with Power Transformer. I probably must make a few changes but I cant´t open the cubes. I create a new Report and add the Cubes in the PowerCubes window but I cant see the Data Sources or anything else. The Data Sources are in a different Server, but I have premision to Use the Cube Folder/Server. If a User creates a New Cube can't he open the Powerplay Cube with Transformer to make changes to the Dimesions or Categorys? Sorry for the dummy question... and thank you for the answers.

Sorry for the mistake but the cube is a .mdc file that Transformer exports...

Julia,
In order to change the contents of a cube (.mdc), you need the model file (.mdl or .pyi), which can be opened with (PowerPlay) Transformer. The .mdl is a source version and can be read with a text editor, whilst the .pyi is a compiled version.

PowerPlay client (or PowerPlay Enterprise server) is used to create reports (.ppr or .ppx) from the cubes.

Your boss therefore needs to supply you with a .mdl or .pyi file.
