After a disk problem, I'm left with a missing disk that contains just 1 logical volume (jfslog). All filesystems that previously used this jfslog have been successfully changed to use another log.

This has left me with an open/syncd lv on a missing volume that I am struggling to get rid of.

I can't unmount it as it has no mount point and rmlv and reducevg (with force deallocation) have all failed.

How can I get this lv closed / disk removed so that I organise a replacement disk ??

If the LV is mirrored (in the LVM, if not reality), "rmlvcopy 1 missinghdiskname"
