Need a little help,

How do I format a form so that when it opens it automatically go into "add a new record" with the cursor in the first field?

Thanks.

There are Two methods
A) create a macro
B) just check the Data Entry property to yes.

A). 1) create a new macro
2) in the Action select open form
3) choose the form name
4) select the data mode to Add
5) save the macro by any name
6) and execute this macro by clicking or Enter.

B) 1) open the form in design mode
2) open the property of the form
3) select Data and find the data entry property
4) check this property to YES
5) save the form.
next time when you open this form it will automatically open in the Add mode.

Note : If you want to have a cursor at the first field when you open the form you need to have a Tab order in the same sequence as you want your data to be promted. for doing this,.
open the form in the design mode right click on the detail section choose Tab Order. you will see the order of your fields in popup windos create your own order by drag and drop. or you can choose the Auto Order button . save the form . and reopen it.

Good Luck!
