open form - Empty display if related records are null

I have looked around the forum for answers to this, but I have not found it, although i bet the soultion is simple (and I am too low to spot it!).

I have a form with wordID that provides info on a word (Form1). On Click I open another form (Fom2) sorted by wordID, where I can input references to the word in literature. The problem is that in Form1 I enter the word, and then Form2 only displays the word if there are already references entered in Form2 (i.e. when I have already typed them directly into the table). How do I get Form2 to show the wordID etc. even if there are no references.

I have used the command wizard with filter to produce the button and event proceedure.

Rather than basing your Form2 on one table, I would suggest creating a query based on the WordsTable joined with ReferencesTable. The join should be of type 2 or 3, whichever results in an arrow pointing to ReferencesTable.
Then base Form2 on that query and you're home free...
