I am using Citrix Program Neighborhood Ver 6.01.967 and Windows 2000. I can open excel, word etc through the program neighborhood file, but I want to be able to open the xls and doc files by double clicking in the explorer.

When I do this it asks me what file I want to use to open it. But neither program shows up as registered.

So the question is how do I register a Citrix based program via explorer.

Thanks in advance.

The easy answer is, from Explorer, go to the 'Tools' menu, select 'Folder Options', and click the 'File Types' tab. You can change associations in there.

I suspect there is more to this, however. Is your account the only one affected, or is everyone's? What version of Office are you using? You may need to make changes in Install mode (change user /install). You may need to reinstall office (hopefully not).

MS Office needs to be installed with a special .mst (config file) for terminal services. I'm sorry I don't remember the Knowledgebase article but I'm sure you can find it. The command line goes something like:
\\server\vol\dir\setup.exe <space>TRANSFORMS=\\server\vol\dir\termsvr.mst /qb+

Where the ternmsvr.mst is the config or "TRANSFORM" file needed for terminal services. The qb+ is quiet mode with the boxes displayed and confirmation when it is finished.

When you do a reinstall it will go fast, don't worry. It just checks for the files needed and changes some registry settings. Because the files are already there it skips them and moves on.
