Hello,

I reinstalled a program (Zend Eclipse). When I double click a file in windows explorer it restarts every time a new session of the program (even if the program is already launched). But I want the file to be opened in the launched program.
Before I reïnstalled the program it was always opening in the same program...
I don't know, if this a windows setup, or maybe a setting in the program?

any help is welcome.

Greetings

Options like 'run only 1 instance of program' and 'open document in existing sesson' are typically controlled by the program itself. There is, however, a way to specify this program's option within Windows but you'd have to know the command for it.

Here's an example direct from Microsoft:

I don't know Zend Eclipse, so you'll need to find the syntax from them. Hope this helps.

Yes, but with xp (and earlier versions) you had an option to configurate your file-extensions. And there you could set some parameters. Something like MMSMSD suggested in his post. But I couldn't find that anymore in Vista. Did some research, seems like it doesn't exist anymore.

wimkumpen,
It does still exist, but was moved and reduced in functionality. To get to the same place under Vista:

* Open Control Panel
* Double-click on 'Default Programs'
* Select 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'

What this section does NOT give you are the DDE options that XP offered. That interface was removed under Vista. You'll need a third-party utility to access those options (or manually edit the registry). Here's a webpage with some possible utilities (I've not tried any of them myself):

Set File Associations Program Arguments

If your program.exe allows it some parameters can be passed to the program via a shortcut to the program with a switch (parameter) after the .exe in the shortcut target box.
