open error message

We are using Netscape Messenger 4.7x and Office2000.Sometimes when we receive doc files from oputside,we can't open it and it's converted in UTF-8 ,really not readable document.I tried a lot of search on Internet ( specially Microsoft)...The same relation is done : related problem with MIME ofrmat in your email serveur.Could someone explain me how and what can I do ?

Detach the attachment to the hard drive and try opening it using WinZip.
