Open an MDE created in 97, using XP Runtime version

I wasn't able to test this , so I'm asking if anyone can confirm. Having Office XP Standard + Access XP Runtime version, is it possible to open MDE files created with Access 97 ?

I don't think so. The MDE format was not designed to be cross version compatible.
My recommendation would be to upgrade the database to Access XP and run that, or use the Access 97 runtime.
