Open a Notes document from a MS Office application

I am looking for a method to open a specific document in a Lotus Notes document from an MS Acccess Application, without using OLE.

I am thinking of
(a) solutions using a hyperlink to the Notes document, or
(b) solutions opening the Notes document programatically, e.g. using the Shell command

Any suggestions?
