Open a CGI file?

Could somebody tell me what programs can open (read) a .cgi file downloaded to my desktop? It's a report from the folks who host my site.

IE has the capabilities to download from your server via FTP.

open IE
in the url address box type
ftp://

http://www.domainname.com

this will prompt a user name and password to be filled in
do that and naviagte to the folder.

right click the file
click copy to folder and away you go


or there is cute and ws ftp which are just basic gui friendly versions of the steps I described. well, there's a few more options but nothing needed particularly

If you downloaded the file already, just use Notepad. Sincerely,

Thanks all. I guess what I didn't realize is that it's ultimately a text file? I was able to get it open with Word.

Careful using Word, as it is known to add unwanted formatting in the file (which would cause errors in the CGI). I suggest you use a text editor which does not use internal formatting. Notepad or Wordpad should work well. Sincerely,
