In preparation for introducing my database to a network where various users would be accessing the database, I've been experimenting with user security permissions. I created an account with an ID for myself and assigned administrator properties to this. While logged on as myself, I accidentally removed my administrator permissions from my log on title. The problem is that it also seems that during my actions, at some point I must have assigned a password to the default "Admin" ID and didn't realize it. Now I am restricted from logging in as the "Admin", and can't gain administrator permissions with any other ID as a result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ermm sounds like you need to re-create the workgroup file - you must use the exact (case sensitive) same workgroupID for this to work (versions later than A97).

When you changed the password for the Admin account you altered your system.mdw file. The password now applies to the default Admin account on any databases you create. If you didn't make a copy of the system.mdw file you will have to reinstall the Access software.

I never use the system.mdw file for my database. Instead, I always create a separate workgroup information file (e.g., "WIF for Work Order System.mdw") and, after I create my own account with administrator permissions I remove the default Admin user account from "WIF for Work Order System.mdw".
