This is really bugging me so i thought someone would like to turn the light on for me.

What does ONS stand for?

i always thought it was on premises extension!!

ON premiSe line, and for your info OPS is Off PremiSe line. OPS cards are stronger, produce more voltage for the ringer and offer better short circuit protection and go alot further on the same size cable as ONS. You only get 8 stations on an OPS card though, and they cost more.

Cheers MitelTech,

I thought an OPS was trunks

thanks again you have cleared that for me

OPS is also only available for a per node (2000 for sure, I imagine the 3300 could run it as well), not available on the 3300's ASU.

how much further do ops work? and how far do ons work? we have a marina with ons lines running to the end of our pier probably a half mile away from the pbx and it works fine.

I will look up the tech spec's when I'm in the office tomorrow. If you want to look it up yourself, grab the 2000 tech doc's from the FAQ area and go to the Engineering section, they're in there.
