Hi gang,

I am setting up a new system IP Office 406v2 with 3.2 and cannot place an outside call over the IP trunk unless only have a shortcode for every area code I want to dial.

That is if I have these two short codes I can dial the numbers in the 408 and 562 area code

Code: [9]1408N
Feature: Dial
telephone number: 91408N
LineGroup ID: 243

Code: [9]1562N
Feature: Dial
telephone number: 91562N
LineGroup ID: 243

All the other default shortcodes, (i.e. as shown below copy/paste from the manual for our reference), and I change the line group to 243, they do not work. I found when I removed these "default" shortcodes and added the two SC above, I can dial just fine to those area codes.

[9]0N; 0N Dial
[9]1N; 1N Dial
[9]N; N Dial
[9]XXXXXXXXXX; XXXXXXXXXX Dial

Any ideas?

Thanks again, guys!

-Bob

Are you sure it is new ?
From which cave did you get that ipo ?
Do you know how an IP Office works ?

Hello,

Good question!

I forgot the backstory which was posted in pieces here an on the yahoo groups forum as well as my introduction I posted here as a new user yesterday: I have been doing adds/moves/changes on a couple 403 and 406 ssytems for 7 years but this is my first time configuraing one from scratch

Here is arough review
Bought used 406v2 with VMC8
wiped OS clean
installed 3.2(69)
renumbered extensions to not cnflict with remote sites
Put ATM ports as out of service
Setup IP trunks to reach remote location
Setup to use centralized voicemail at remote location
Configured paging over viking anti feedback unit

Everything is working so far except... (as writtend at the top of this thread.

If you have no lines on it except for an iptrunk then this shortcode should work:

N
dial
[9]N
253

3.2 is a long time ago for me so i could be wrong.

Hmmm.

After doing this, when I push 9, followed by any number I get INCOMPATIBLE

You need to be sure that the other ipo gets the digits it need to send out.
Use monitor on both ipo's and see what happens.

OK guys, for now here is how I handled it.

Since I figured out that if I can get a shotcode with the area code to work, how about a short code with only the first digit of an area code?

It works, I just had to create nine of them!

Total poor-mans fix but it is working.

Check if you have a ShortCode the only has a 9 without the [ ] this will cause the problem. Also check the users shortcode, the user short code will overrule the system shortcode.

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...

ps. the [ ] are only needed to get secondary dial tone.

There is a "9" shortcode without the brackets but when I remove that, anything I dial after 9 comes back as incompatible.

the user extn has no shortcodes

Thanks for the ideas. Please keep them coming :)

your problem with the default short codes is you wer stripping the leading 9 which in your configuration needs to be sent over the link.

try:
[9]N; 9N Dial
[9]1N; 91N Dial
[9]0N; 90N Dial
