Only Printer After Ping

I have a networked printer installed on my print server. It is a HP4250dtn, the installation seemed to go fine. But then when a user maps a printer, they can not print to it.

By chance I tried pinging the printer server and then tried printing and it worked fine. This has now happened with nearly 10 users. All can not print until they ping the print server. I have around 10 printers on this print server and this is the first printer to do this.

What is causing this? Can I fix it?
