We have a client and they are experiancing a problem where just one window out of the entire program doesn't function. They get an hourglass and eventually, the program halts.

This is only happening with one of our clients, and only one of their windows in our program. What could be the cause?

What's the window supposed to do? Does it have some OLE component which isn't loaded (or was at some time and now it isn't)?

There is no OLE component in this window... the most complicated architecture in it is a tab control, each with its own datawindow.

I'm thinking that maybe its a problem with their OS? That's the only thing I could think of since its only 1 client, and only one window that won't work. Any ideas?

HI,

probably there can be some problems with client pc.
1. is there enough memory? mybe the retrieve is very heavy.

2. is the connection still alive during openning the particulat window?

3. does any programmcode be executed in the retrieve event in the datawindoe, wich may lead depending on your clients data-environment in an infinit loop?

4. is the retrieve and the problems occuring to specific time .. this may be a hint that there might be a db-problem like trying to acces data while a backup is done?

5. Is the rtrieve to 0ne or more databases? than there might be a problem with connect to second and beyoned database.

6. is your client working with the same odbc like all your other clients? maybe odbc is the reason?

7. what kind of database are you connecting to a "single" database or are others linked to your main database? than It might be that the dbms itself has problems to connect to the linked db.

8. do you have parameters in the retrieve and joins? than it might be depending on parameters lead to long running selects.

hope you have a little help with this in your search

Bernd

Verify the powerbuilder deployment files on the pc against those of one that works.
