only a local connection

: I have just had a new Acer Desktop PC, it came with a free trial of Macafee
Yesterday I decided to uninstall macafee and put my own symantec on, however as macafee was uninstalling the PC shutdown, when it came back up the internet connection only gets a local connection
I have tried to reboot the Router
I have tried to reset the router
I have uninstalled Symantec and disabled the firewall but still no joy
I have tried a cable rather than wireless, but all of them only let me get a local connection
we are able to get a wireless connection ok on my laptop and the kids xbox live

At a command prompt, try netsh winsock reset
