onload resize window

Hi, Folks.

Is there any simple way to replace this code that will work with the new browsers?
onload="resizeTo(575,565)" - for example

The point is for the user to be able to click on a thumbnail and have a new floating window open. It was so easy before, but now my enlarged images that used to open in their own, smaller windows simply become new tabs at the top of the brower.

I notice in the same browser (IE9), I can still go to stock image sites, click on something, and a new window will open. When I go to view the code, I'm not exactly sure what they're doing.

Hoping for something simple.

Have you thought about updating to a lightbox?
