Hi,

I am thinking of working towards my next certificate using online training. It's cheaper than a traditional course and I think it would suit my style of learning much better ( I like to really go deep and do more than just pass an exam ). Never done one this way before. The type I am thinking of has video lectures ( presumably downloaded ) and a mentor/tutor to ask questions.

Has anybody had any good/bad experiences?

it's okat for some... but the MCSE tests will require you to have hands-on... so figure that into your calculations...

Setnaffa is an MCSA-2k3 (working on MCSE-2k3) with a few other certs, too...

I think that a possible downfall in this kind of training is that you can only go at the speed of everyone else, if you have someone who doesn't understand the concepts then you are stuck at that point.

I find that although it's sometimes good to be in a mixed class room I have always done better when I have had 1-1 training. If you can find someone who offers pure 1-1 mentoring that's great but I am not sure if they exist.

if you get a class with 4-10 people for $2000, 1:1 must be pretty steep... and you still need a couple weeks to internalize al the concepts for the test...

best if you work with some experts willing to share a little OJT...
