I use Automatic Maintenance to set up online backup. But this backup only can get as scheduled when I leave the control center windows open. Somebody can help me with this? Thanks a lot

Hi there,

what's your operating system ?

On Unix it would be quite easy using "crontab" or "at" command ...

(Something like "su - <db2sid> -c db2 backup db <SID> online use ..... and so on")

With Windows I have no experience, but I'd assue using some scheduler starting the cc and run the online backup might do the trick ...

Regards
Thomas

No no! Automatic maintenance and cron are 2 diff. things.
Are you sure about that open window? When you use DB2-LUW version 8 or 9 i'm sure it works. The tasks are executed by DB2 itself.

Thank both of you for replying me question.

The operating system is windows 2003 and DB is version 8. The first day, I closed control center after automatic maintenance setup. No backup was created. The second day, I left control center opened and backup was created as scheduled.

I'm confused. It's AUTOMATIC maintenace. Do I need to do some schedule to start the automatic maintenance?

Hi there,

I know it's a wild guess but do you have the latest DB2 FixPak installed ? I know there were certain problems with some of these "automatic" functionalities under older FixPak Levels although I never heard of that exact problem so far ...

But it sure couldn't hurt to try it out ...

Thomas

Thank you, Thomas, for giving me this suggestion. I'll try it.
