Has anyone experienced an issue using one-X on cell only? Meaning the app works fine while connected to *any* wifi, but without wifi the app cannot connect?

I'm on 9.0.2 and my Nexus 5 (4.4.4) is experiencing this problem. I reached out to the email address of the developer listed on Google Play, but he seems convinced it is user error.

It is a user error :)
I have a NExus 5 on 4.4.4 and it works fine for me so it is not the Nexus.
I had it working on 9.0.2 so it is not the IPO.
Internal it works so it must be a problem with the port forwarding or FQDN.
How is this configured?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Is this the entire app, or just the voip client? If just the voip client, go to "Settings-->Voice over IP-->VoIP operation mode-->select Always

My nexus 5 via tmobile LOVES to shut its data off all on its own. While I would appear to have mobile network - mobile data was off in settings. Took me like a week to figure this out. Hope this info helps you.

(same symptoms = worked on wifi failed on LTE)

Probably so. I will tinker a bit more.

The problem is with the entire app.

I'm using mobile licenses so the VoIP doesn't work. I understand Power license is needed for VoIP.

My Nexus 5 is also T-Mobile. Is the 'mobile data' setting within the one-X app or just the phone? I'm not having any issues with other apps/email checks.

Actually I'm off-site with VPN tunnels disabled, so I'm not "internal" to the LAN with the one-X mobile.

The app connects to the one-X server when I'm connected to any external wifi. Away from wifi and the app doesn't connect.

Here's an update that could point some blame at T-Mobile.

I was in another area of the city this morning with the one-X app open, and it was logged in and functioning on LTE. I was surprised. I drove to work, got on the elevator, made it to the office with wifi, the app connected with wifi, I turn off wifi to make sure the app is still connecting and it does not connect.

I'm not sure how to interpret this, but I am happy to see the app working on cell service in some locations.

Then it is a provider issue :)

Maybe the provider blocks port 5060 & 5061. I always change these default ports.

Finally fixed this odd problem. When trying unsuccessfully to connect via VPN connection from my smartphone, I came across this post on why it is happening on T-Mobile.

"The Symptoms: You are able to do most things on your mobile device over T-Mobile data (browse the Internet, send and receive email, etc), and you are able to make VPN connections over Wi-Fi wireless, but you are not able to make VPN connections over T-Mobile wireless data.

The Cause: T-Mobile apparently pushed out a data configuration in late 2013 that changed APN Protocol to IPv6. That works properly for most things on mobile devices, but it prevents PPTP (built into Android) and OpenVPN (OpenVPN Connect) clients from making VPN connections.

The Cure: Open Settings > Wireless & Networks > More... > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > T-Mobile GPRS (fast.t-mobile.com) > APN protocol, and change the selection from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6."

After making this change and rebooting, I can now connect to VPN tunnels and the Avaya one-X mobile app works on cell only connections.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
