One-X Portal Takes 15min to Startup

What's that about?
The one-x web service consumes 100% CPU for about 15Min before the product is available to users. Strangest thing I ever saw. One-x uses tomcat apache web server, is this an issue with all apache installs?

It is documented that it can do that yes.
Starting the service is documented as 10 to 15 minutes.
It all depends on the server.
I have installed it on a proliant G360 R4 and it takes more then 20 minutes (up to 30) to start.
Installed it on a Dell server and took about 15 minutes.

Installed it on a HP compac desktop with Server 2003 and runs in 5 minutes.

I don't get it but i think it needs very recent hardware to run fine.

i think that time is quite normal. in my demo rig it takes around 20 minutes and takes 100% CPU utilization so i just made the service manually start

i cant realy see any rhyme or reason to it. i've installed it on hardware that was the absolute minimum spec, and it started in 5-10 minutes, and have installed it on a spanking new top spec rig and it took half an hour.

I think the main thing is to be aware that this happens and not to panic

Ultimately this only affects you when you first start the service or have to restart it for any reason. I don't think it's all that long to wait.

Anyone who has worked with BCM's or Mitel's with be used to waiting for things to start up

I get the impression shortel is more serious about their hosted platform more than their CPE based stuff.

Tom,
You can not even put a ring group in to night service! Only a hunt group can.

Reboots take at least 15 minutes but there are more systems who need that time.

There are many more but i do not want to get mad

Yep!

Begin this year the option to log in and out of a normal group was finaly there !!!!

This is basic stuff and Mitel introduced it in 2010 !!!!

Make sure you meet the minimum specs for the One-X Portal server...however long start ups are not uncommon.

Server PC Requirements
one-X Portal is currently supported with all components installed on a single server meeting the following requirements:
· o Operating System: Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit).
· o RAM Memory: 2GB.
· o Available Hard Disk Space: 10GB.
· o TCP/IP Port:
The default port is 8080. This can be changed if required during installation of the server software if necessary.
See Checking Available Ports .
· o Firewall Exceptions
Exceptions should be added to the server firewall for incoming access on the TCP port above. If the firewall is also
used to control outgoing access, an exception for access to TCP port 50814 on the IP Office IP address should also
be added.

yup im ok with the start up time with One-X since for years i've got used to the BCM starting the whole system for around 15 minutes.

tlpeter Mitel lol,

Replacing a HD cost you more than an hour, have replaced them on all 5 the 3100 systems i've ever installed (they where less than 1 year old). The 3300 is a little better but that it. The new Mitel i would not know haven't done them for years (6 years or so). The 6000MAS is also a pain in the a$$.

The only thing i like is the teleworker.
MSL is easy to install most of the time.
For the rest it is junk, same category as Cisco telephony.
