Hi Guys
Does anyone know if the record button can be disabled or greyed out in 1xp?

Impossible.
It is an option in vmpro and required for any use licences so recording is an option.

As Peter has hinted, impossible (except by turning off the voicemail server).

However, depending on what you want to do and why, there is a lot you can do to control what happens when it is pressed including not recording. But I wouldn't want to waste my time with any example without knowing the scenario you are trying to achieve.

I have recently installed the solution in a solicitors and the senior partners do not want the minions to be able to record the calls using the button,the senior partners would be happy for a blanket ban on recording or on a user by user basis.
As you suggested,not recording would be an option,is this possible to achieve?.
 
Only thing I can think of is setting all the user voice recording to a virtual voicemailbox that forward the message to a virtual email address that delete the incomming message immediatly.

That way they can record, but the cannot listen to it, so they wont use it anymore.

 
Don't disable the recording but record to a VRL (voice recording library)
Use Xima Chronicall and create database.
Chronicall is able now to delete the recordings after a certain amount of time but nobody without access can touch these recordings anyway.

Can't you just make a module called Record and have it do nothing? I've accidentally done that before and broke all the call recording :)

oh oh...make a module called Record, and have it check against a list of users that should NOT record, and have it do nothing. Then for the ones that CAN do it, have it do a listen to the callers mailbox :)

Interesting issue with the above I ran into.
I use a variable routing to check against $CLI and two extensions.
The good extension does a LISTEN to caller mailbox, the bad one has no destination.

If I call from the good phone to the bad phone, the good phone can record the call. The bad phone can ALSO record the call, but the recording goes nowhere.
If I call from the bad phone to the good phone, NEITHER can record the call.

This will require a bit more doing. Granted, this is being done WITHOUT one-x portal. I just assume a record button would invoke the same process in VMPRO as the record button in one-x does.

The folks have pretty well covered it. Use the IP Office configuration settings to reroute recordings to a different mailbox or to the VRL folder and configure housekeeping to automatically delete them on a regular basis.

More sophisticated is the custom Record module to work out if the user is allowed to record or not.

Sizbut, I have done what you said and have tried sending the recording to both VRL and a users mailbox and reduced the recording to 5 seconds.
In housekeeping I have set new recording delete to 1 hour and old recording delete to 1 day.
In the scenario where I sent it to the user mailbox, it did not delete the recording after the 1 hour period and shows as a new message, the next day, when you check the messages on the phone, there are no new, old or saved messages showing on the phone.

However if you look in the VM\accounts and the user, the messages are still there, also if you sent it to VRL, the message is still there after the periods set in housekeeping, is there a way to clear these out automatically ?
 
If they want to blanket ban recording at their site, adjust the voice mail channel reservations. You may need to add a few more VM Ports ($$$) to accomplish the desired mix of reservations between AA and MBX access, but this is the simplest, most straightforward way.

. Voicemail Channel Reservation:
These settings allow the channels between the system and Voicemail Pro to be reserved for particular functions. Unreserved channels can be used for any function but reserved channels cannot be used for any function other than that indicated. These settings are not available unless the configuration includes validated licenses for the total number of voicemail channels.

· Unreserved Channels
This setting cannot be changed and by default will show the total number of licensed voicemail channels. This number will decrease as channels are reserved for the following functions.

· Mailbox Access: Default = 0
This setting sets the number of channels reserved for users accessing mailboxes to collect messages.

· Auto-Attendant: Default = 0
This setting sets the number of channels reserved for users directed to Voicemail Pro short code and module start points.

· Voice Recording: Default = 0
This setting sets the number of channels reserved for voice recording other than mandatory voice recording (see below). If no channels are available recording does not occur though recording progress may be indicated.

· Mandatory Voice Recording: Default = 0
This setting sets the number of channels reserved for mandatory voice recording. When no channels are available for a call set to mandatory recording, the call is barred and the caller hears busy tone.

· Announcements: Default = 0
This setting sets the number of channels reserved for announcements. When no channels are available calls continue without announcements.




 
Don't expect files to be physically deleted exactly on the hour specified. The housekeeping runs regularly but not continuously, its a lower priority task for the voicemail server than dealing with incoming calls.

When it does occur it can happen in happen in stages:
1) the file is marked as archived and so no longer appears in various access methods used by mailbox users. However if you look in the physical folders the file is still there.
2) At some later time of the voicemail servers convenience it gets around to actually deleting those files that are marked as archived.
