Hello everyone I'm a bit confused, which at times is nothing new.

We have currently purchased an IP Office V2 rel 10.1 and a R230 XL SRVR IPO UC for one of our customers.

Here the confusion, at the download site there are quite a few downloads available. Am I downloading the One X Portal for Windows and Voicemail Pro for windows and installing that or the something else.

I've done this using a UC Module for another customer but this seems confusing. I've talked to two different people from Avaya support and got two different answers.

You could put a Windows server OS on it and then install Windows one-X Portal and Voicemail Pro software.

But I would strongly recommend installing it as an IP Office Application Server using the "IP Office Server Edition / Applications Server 10.1.100.3 .iso installation image". No Windows server licenses required, more reliable and almost identical features.

Search for the "Installing and Maintaining the Avaya IP Office Application Server" manual.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

So does this mean that VM PRO and One X portal will be running on the R230 XL SRVR IPO UC once I download the .iso image?

if you have bought the server form Avaya it is probably already loaded with the application server & simply needs igniting

If not you need to load the operating system on the the server (by booting the server from a DVD or Memory stick created from the iso file)
It is pretty much the same as the UC module (the UC module is just a server that mounts into the IPO chassis) but the external server does support a few extra options (such as call recorder). it is also the same image as used for Server edition, the correct mode of operation needs selecting during ignition

you (or your techies) should already know this & it is fully documented

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Yes (plus Integrated Contact Report, Media Manager, Contact Record for IP Office, Web Collaboration and WebRTC Gateway if you want any of those services. UCM on steroids.)

The real question is 'How much longer will Avaya persist in providing new Windows versions of one-X/VMPro?'

Too Long, the sooner windoze is killed for all applications the better, what we really need is a call centre app that also runs on Application server
