I've been asked if we can test one-x communicator softphone on our system but I'm unsure if we require a licence and everything I've searched isn't too clear. On our ACD what licence is needed, just an IP phone like our physical stations or is it something different.

The Idea is to roll a load out later in the year but I want to test first.

Thanks in advance and sorry for being vague as this is a product I know little about.

In the 2nd to last page of display system-parameters customer-options it should tell you. Generally for the last few releases, a set is a set is a set. Maybe if you've got some special hospitality deal where you don't use the voicemail and just have analog you might buy differently, but for most modern switches, a license for a PBX phone doesn't break down to different amounts of analog/TDM/IP/H323/SIP/hard/soft. Odds are you'd see a OnexComm entitlement in the later pages of something like "maximum phones of the offer limit of your system" because all they care about is the number of stations you're allowed to program at all and that's on the first couple of pages.

1X Communicator will have the same amount of license you have for stations. So if your system is license for 18000 stations then you have 18000 1X Communicator License. The trick is if you plan on using the 1X Comm. for ACD Calls, then you will need 1X Agent or Equinox depends. 1X Comm. will not let you add buttons like Auto-In for ACD Calls but you can use Abbreviate Dialing and Custom name the buttons.

Belated... but thanks, just back round to looking at this.

Just an fyi you should start using Avaya Equinox. It is their new platform moving forward.
